Kayaking

Here is Kiera & Maddie happy to be kayaking. The last time we went kayaking all went well until the very end, when a storm blew in, which is very common in Burley. Kiera was scared. I was attaching everything to my kayak, when I knocked my paddle into the water (without noticing), so when I went to paddle (after everything was secure) my paddle was long gone. Luckily, I blew to the edge, where two young men were working on their parent's new dock. They helped me out of the water and then lifted my kayak onto the grass. Steve, Kiera, and Maddie soon blew to the edge and blew upstream to the same dock. Shortly after that, my paddle blew to the edge and upstream to where we were. Very lucky.
We decided to get Kiera back in the water-so she would have a positive experience. Well, we went to where we usually go-but there was something going on and it was beyond crowded, so we went to where we usually end. We thought we would paddle upstream until we were tired and then float back to the dock. Yeah! The current was so strong that Kiera and Maddie went downstream way too fast. I ended up following them and then tying a rope from my kayak to theirs. It took us about 45 minutes of solid paddling to get back to the dock. If we ever tried to rest we would go downstream-so no resting. Just paddle, paddle, paddle. We were all worn out by the time we got to the dock. Not fun. We need to go again soon-and only float (and paddle) downstream. Much more fun that way!!
